Julia S.
Hi, my name is Julia Shinn and honestly I didn’t know Sam for very long, but his presence in my life truly made a strong impact that I’ll hold onto forever. I met him through Eva McCaslin and soon became close with him as he started attending our meetings and events at Unity. I’ll never forget how immediately in-tune he was with our space and ideas. He was dynamic in discussions and made everyone laugh and question the meaning of life in one foul swoop. I laughed, danced, talked, and cried with him and honestly I just can’t believe he’s gone. I probably haven’t talked to him in over two years but I can still feel the warmth of his hug and see the gleam in his eyes.
Whoever’s reading this, I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. I recently lost a young family member suddenly and the feeling is like no other. I hope that these stories and photos bring at least the smallest smile to your face and that you know that Sam was deeply loved by everyone he met. I’ve been shocked by the amount of people I know from completely different areas and groups who knew Sam and had a deep love for him. I can’t help but believe that Sam is somewhere watching all of us connect and share this love that we had for him.
